We are building a platform for books whose substantive manuscript content was written by human authors without the use of generative AI to create the prose, dialogue, scenes, chapters, stories, or other core written material.
The purpose is simple. Readers who care about human-written work should have an easy way to find it, and authors who choose to write their books themselves should have a place where that choice is visible.

Unprompted Books brings human-written titles together across genres and subjects.
Readers can explore fiction, nonfiction, romance, mystery, fantasy, historical fiction, children’s books, poetry, memoir, business, self-help, spirituality, and many other categories.
The platform is not built around one type of author or one style of publishing. Independent authors, self-published writers, traditionally published authors, and authors working through small presses can all have a place here, provided their submitted books meet the platform’s human-written requirement.

The name reflects the central idea behind the platform.
A human-written book does not begin because a machine was instructed to generate a chapter.
It begins in a human mind.
The author decides what matters, what should happen, what should be left unsaid, which words belong on the page, and when the work is finally ready to meet a reader.
Writing can involve research, editing, revision, dictionaries, reference material, spell-checking, formatting software, and many other tools. Technology has always been part of publishing.
Our focus is specifically on the authorship of the manuscript itself.
Unprompted Books exists to recognize books where the substantive written content remains the work of the human author.
Our Human-Written Declaration
Authors submitting books to Unprompted Books are asked to make a Human-Written Declaration confirming that generative AI was not used to create the manuscript’s substantive written content.
This approach is based on author declaration and transparency.
We believe readers should be able to understand what the platform means by “human-written,” and authors should know exactly what they are confirming when they submit their work.
As the platform develops, we may continue refining these standards to keep them clear, practical, and fair.
